Applying for Civil Service Eligibility

Pursuant to the PD No. 907, honor graduates of four-year or longer courses from schools, colleges and universities of good standing shall be granted the Civil Service Eligibility as follows:

It was great to know that this law, created by former Pres. Marcos, was able to give hardworking students much-deserved certifications with an exemption from examinations.

Due to lack of time and information, I was only able to have mine processed this year. I hope this helps those honor graduates in the future.

Requirements:

-          Properly accomplished Application Form (CS Form 101-D, available in their website HERE)

-          Three pieces 1x1 picture with name and signature. You may look at the same website for an example but please take note:

THE WEBSITE SAYS PASSPORT SIZE BUT FOR HGE, THEY REQUIRE 1x1 PICTURES. I HAD TO GET ANOTHER SET OF ID PICTURES TAKEN WHEN I GOT THERE BECAUSE OF THIS ERROR IN THEIR WEBSITE AND FORM REQUIREMENT SECTION.

  • -          Original and photocopy of I.D
  • -          Original and photocopy of NSO authenticated birth certificate
  • -          Original and photocopy of NSO marriage certificate (if applicable)
  • -          Certification of No Pending Case
  • -          Original and photocopy of TOR
  • -          Certification that applicant graduated with honors

What you have to know before processing the HGE- Civil Service Eligibility?

-          Double check with the website or with the CSC hotline where you can process the HGE. Each university/ college/ school has their own regional office where you may process your civil service eligibility. For my fellow PUPians, our Regional Office is in Civil Service Commission NCR 25 Kaliraya Street Banawe Quezon City.

Comments:

PNoy’s new incentive policy in government offices proves good so far. The employees who assisted me are all hospitable and proactive. Maybe because they had to give a survey form each time they assist, but whatever, it’s the best experience I’ve had in forever when it comes to dealing with government employees. HOWEVER, I was just a little disappointed that I had to come back next week just to get my Certification JUST because their processor was not at work (I’m not sure if the said processor was in a business outside the office, on leave or absent). It’s a long way from home and work. I have to spend more time and money just to finish a transaction that was supposed to be finished in less than 2 hours.

Well, it’s okay though. At least I don’t have to spend more time in reviewing for an exam to get my COE.
