Time Traveler's Wife

I was never a fan of Romeo and Juliet.

Maybe it was due to the fact that I don’t believe in suicide—a quick escape. I do not believe it can solve anything… even loneliness and pain from losing someone we love dearly, probably more than life itself. Things might have turned out for the better if they didn’t choose to end their life. They could have been happy alive.

It’s probably the reason why I like A WALK TO REMEMBER so much. Life goes on. What’s important is that you’ve had your chance and made the best out of it while you still could. Love should be selfless. If the person you loved passed away, it’ll be painful no doubt. But if you truly love that person, you’ll be happy for them, knowing they’ll be in a happier, better place. You’d try to move on and be happy for yourself, because you trust that that person wants you to be happy too even if they couldn’t be with you in flesh.

I just finished watching THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE. Clare and Henry: my newest favorite couple. I couldn’t even begin to explain how I was touched by their love.

Clare was a girl who saved her heart for someone she wasn’t sure when she’ll meet again, who continually waited for him to come back whenever he’d leave without a word, who’s so devoted to their love that even after many years after his death she still had faith in him to the point that she would have clothes prepared for his unannounced return.

Henry was a guy who could not control his fate but was willing to take all chances just to be with the woman he loved; A guy who would always find his way back to his love no matter what happens; A guy who can travel in different time but stayed true and had only one girl in his heart.

He prepared her heart right from the start. She loved him for it, loved him with everything she had. Their love always brought them back together. It survived his death. It survived her loneliness.

I will wait. I will not rush… this way when I meet the one for me, I’ll be able to love just as selflessly.
