FEATURES OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Based on the film "Invictus”

Directed by: Clint Eastwood

Invictus, a film released last December 2011, was primarily based on John Carlin’s book "Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made a Nation”. The story followed the story of former South African President Nelson Mandela, from the time of his release after 27 years of imprisonment, the challenges he encountered during his term, and how he was able to overcome such challenges— in the most unpredictable of ways by using the South African Rugby team Springboks.

The red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
O the red rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.

But I send you a cream-white rosebud
With a flush on its petal tips;
For the love that is purest and sweetest
Has a kiss of desire on the lips.

I love this poem. It's passionate. It's pure. It speaks of true human emotion, I can feel it in my bones.

Time Traveler's Wife

 I was never a fan of Romeo and Juliet.

Maybe it was due to the fact that I don’t believe in suicide—a quick escape. I do not believe it can solve anything… even loneliness and pain from losing someone we love dearly, probably more than life itself. Things might have turned out for the better if they didn’t choose to end their life. They could have been happy alive.

It’s probably the reason why I like A WALK TO REMEMBER so much. Life goes on. What’s important is that you’ve had your chance and made the best out of it while you still could. Love should be selfless. If the person you loved passed away, it’ll be painful no doubt. But if you truly love that person, you’ll be happy for them, knowing they’ll be in a happier, better place. You’d try to move on and be happy for yourself, because you trust that that person wants you to be happy too even if they couldn’t be with you in flesh.

I just finished watching THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE. Clare and Henry: my newest favorite couple. I couldn’t even begin to explain how I was touched by their love.

So! I finally finished this trilogy after a week… and as usual, whenever such works touch my heart, I can’t help but write about it and share it to everyone.

The last novel that got my attention was Kathryn Caskie’s ROYLE SISTERS, stories of three sisters aiming to get a hold of their rightful place as King’s daughters. Passionate, Pure historical and Interest snatcher… but this???

The trilogy written by Jenna Peterson was divided into three titles: From London with Love, Desire Never Dies and Seduction is Forever. It’s a Story revolving around three women who grown up as orphans and now live as widows— and spies. It greatly illustrates action, comedy, mystery, drama, romance, as they try to unfold the truth behind their cases and find true love in the process. I’m quite guilty for reading the last book first – to cheat. Coz if it ain’t good then I don’t want to waste my time on it.

But Alas! With its adrenaline-rush-making mysteries, bone deep passion and desires, plus bullets and 1800s sceneries and gowns…. I’m lost in it. I’m planning to read her other stand-alone novels and hope for another great trip to another era of the past…

I recommend this trilogy to those intellectual badasses like me who are into Historical Romance- Mystery - Action novels.

So! It’s been a great while since I last got the chance to watch a drama in marathon. Not to mention that it is a Korean one. I’ve always been a fan of J-Dramas more but I must say…. Now, having the chance to see all three variations of Hana Yori Dango (Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean) live adaptations, I’ve come to love the Korean one the most.

The names—- well, I still favor the Japanese one coz it includes the real names from the manga… and its easier to remember…. Like Doumyouji Tsukasa (Korean: Gu Jun Pyo/Taiwanese: Dao Ming Si) ; Hanazawa Rui, etc…

What got me hooked in this newest version is the story as a whole.

  • Makino/ Jang Di is not just a strong woman who knows how to fight. She also has something she’s great about *swimming* and later on, a doctor.
  • Doumyouji/ Jun Pyo’s mother isn’t as hateful as the other versions….
  • Rui/ Ji hoo was illustrated more thoroughly. How great of a person he is. It made me more confident that somewhere out there, my soul mate does exist. And he doesn’t have to be my love interest at all to be able to stand by me.
  • The special scenes are awesome! Even if I am not a tourism major, I guess I would still appreciate the wonderful places featured in here.
